Chapter 5

The airport terminal buzzes with activity.

I wheel my suitcase toward security.

A commotion erupts behind me.

"Move! Everyone MOVE!"

Alexander's voice.

He pushes through the crowd, blocking my path.

Soaked from the rain, eyes wild and desperate.

"You can't leave."

"You signed the papers."

"I'm withdrawing my consent!" he pants.

"Alpha consent withdrawal is permitted within 72 hours—"

"I'm withdrawing NOW!"

People stare at the unfolding drama.

Someone whispers his name—the infamous Alpha of Blackstone.

I meet his gaze calmly. "And then what?"

"We go home. Start over—"

"Go back to what?"

"More pretending?"

"More heats spent alone?"

"More humiliation from your mother?"

"More watching you with her?"

"Alexander, I'm done."

"I deserve better than this life."

He grabs my arm. "What about our baby?"

"You'd let our child grow up fatherless?"

"They'll have a father," I say coldly.

"Once I'm settled in Berlin, I'll find a nice Beta."

"One who actually loves me."

"My child will have a father. Just not you."

The words hit him like physical blows.

His Alpha pheromones explode outward.

Nearby Omegas cower in fear.

Security officers approach. "Sir! Control your pheromones!"

"This is a public area—"

Alexander shoves them aside.

His eyes flash gold—his wolf emerging.

"Emma, you are MY Luna."

"Our bond is soul-deep."

"You can't escape me."

"Watch me."

I turn toward security.

He tries to follow but security blocks him.

"Sir! You need a boarding pass—"

I hear him roaring, struggling against them.

I don't look back.

Through security.

At the gate.

My phone rings constantly.

All him.

I reject every call.

Then power off completely.

The boarding announcement comes.

I stand—

Sudden, knife-like pain tears through my abdomen.

I look down.

Blood stains my dress.

No.

No no no.

"Help—" My voice barely carries.

"I need help—"

My vision blurs.

Through fading consciousness, I see someone running toward me.

Alexander.

He's somehow broken through security.

"EMMA!"

Then darkness.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Carter."

"We did everything we could."

The doctor's voice seems distant.

"The pregnancy was already unstable. Combined with severe emotional distress and hormonal fluctuations—"

"The baby's gone?"

"I'm afraid so."

I stare at the ceiling.

Silent tears track down my temples.

My fault.

I shouldn't have been traveling.

Shouldn't have let myself get so upset.

An Omega's distress directly affects their unborn child.

I killed my baby.

"Ms. Carter, one more thing," the doctor hesitates.

"Your bond mark is showing signs of deterioration."

"This is dangerous."

"Forced bond dissolution can cause severe psychological damage to both Alpha and Omega."

"Are you certain you want to proceed?"

"Continue."

I close my eyes.

"Accelerate the process."

"I'll pay triple."

Three days later.

I check myself out of the hospital.

Alexander doesn't know.

He thinks I'm still hospitalized.

Daily flower deliveries. Constant messages.

I respond to none of it.

A sympathetic Beta nurse helps me slip out.

Straight to the airport.

Different flight this time.

No one knows.

Before boarding, one final message to him:

"Our child died because of your indecision. I never want to see your face again."

Attached: the miscarriage report.

Send.

Block.

New SIM card.

I board the plane.

As we take off, I feel the bond mark begin to tear.

Like my soul is being shredded.

I bite down on my scarf to muffle my screams.

Goodbye, Alexander.

May guilt consume you for the rest of your days.
