Chapter 153: Drake loves me

LYNN'S POV

As we left Drake's office, I couldn't stop smiling. I hadn't smiled this much in what felt like weeks. Every time I turned around there was someone or something else going wrong. I could see it all over Drake's face how stressed out he was, and I had no idea how to fix it.

Drake went to Lane as I made my way back to untangling the wires, greeted by Luis's smirk. I glanced around and saw that Brooke was nowhere to be seen. I can only imagine what she thought when she walked in on us, and I wasn't sorry one bit. I was glad that she didn't see me naked, but she needed to see what we were doing. Drake was mine and I'd fight for him until I gave my last breath.

"Did you have a nice break?" Luis asked with his voice dripping in sarcasm.

My cheeks blushed as I let out a small giggle. "You heard that?"

"Honey, we all heard that."

I normally would have been embarrassed, but I held my head high and laughed it off. There really wasn't anything to be embarrassed about anyway. We were a couple and if we wanted to have a quickie in his office, then so be it.

"You should have seen Brooke after she shut the door. Her face was shell shocked and then she marched out of here like Bruce Banner who was about to turn into the Hulk."

I snickered under my breath, feeling pride bubble in my chest. She had no idea who she was messing with and I was glad she walked in. Maybe now she'd understand that Drake was truly off the market and would leave him alone, but somehow I still didn't believe that. These women were relentless.

"Babe, come here!" Drake shouted for me.

Tossing the wires down, I sauntered over to him as Lane smirked at me. He didn't say a word but I knew he heard us just like everyone else. Now I was blushing again.

"I hate to ask this of you again, but I really need your camera skills. Lane thinks it's a good idea to get still-shots of the set. I know you don't want to do this, but I-"

"No, I'll do it," I cut him off.

As much as it bothered me before, I was coming to the conclusion that I wanted to be here with him. I wanted to be along this journey with Drake, and if that meant I became his still-photographer, then I'd do it. I could think of worse ways of spending my days.

"Also, can I talk to you for a second? Alone?" I asked Drake.

He cocked an eyebrow at me, but placed his hand on the small of my back before he guided me away from Lane.

"What's up, babe?"

I took a deep breath before I told him what was on my mind. "I know that you're running a business here, but I think it will only be a success if you have the right people. I'm not trying to cause problems, but..."

"Just spit it out, babe." Drake laughed.

"I want Brooke fired," I blurted out.

His eyebrows shot up in surprise as he stared down at me, then he chuckled again.

"Done."

Whoa! Just like that? He doesn't even ask why I wanted her fired?

"I, um, don't mean to test my luck here, but why did you agree so quickly?"

He let out a sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. My eyes went straight for his biceps as they flexed, making my mouth water.

"Because I want to make you comfortable, lynn. If her being here makes you uncomfortable, then she's gone. Besides," he paused as he grabbed my hands, "we have enough problems in our life and I don't want to add another one. She was unprofessional earlier and I don't have the time of day for that. I'll fire her as soon as I see her again."

My heart fluttered in my chest. I couldn't believe he didn't put up a fight, but I was glad that he didn't.

"Do you want me to grab my camera now?" I asked, changing the subject as excitement bubbled in the pit of my stomach.

He nodded at me and I took off out of the warehouse to head to his car where I knew my camera would still be in his trunk. But as soon as I stepped outside, I caught Brooke leaned up against the building with a cigarette between her lips. I tried to ignore her but as I popped the trunk, I glanced up at her. She intently watched me with a scowl on her face, puffing her cigarette as we held eye contact.

I grabbed my camera bag and hefted it over my shoulder before I shut the trunk. She could stare me down all she wanted to, but at the end of the day I'd still be in Drake's life and she wouldn't be. I moved away from the car and headed for the door but before I could grab the handle, she spoke.

"Don't you find it strange that you're the woman Drake chose to be with?" Brooke asked as she pushed away from the wall, squaring her shoulders toward me.

I scoffed. "What I find strange is the confidence you have that he wouldn't choose someone like me. You know nothing about Drake."

She snickered and shook her head. "I know things about Drake you will never know, sweetheart. Or have you forgotten that he was once mine?"

"Yours? Honey, you couldn't handle him if he was yours. The boy you knew back then is definitely not the man I know today. And the next time you want to try and seduce my man in front of me, know that I don't play nice."

Her brow cocked as she studied me. "You don't scare me, lynn. I've been around this industry long enough to have my own set of rules to play. If it's a game you want, then I'll give it to you. A man like Drake won't be happy with a woman like you for long. He'll grow bored of you and move onto the next beautiful woman."

"And that's where you're wrong, Brooke. Drake loves me. This isn't a game to either of us, but if you want to play so badly, bring it on, bitch."

My nerves were strung out and I was tired of people like her trying to come between what Drake and I had. I wasn't going to play nice any longer. As far as she was concerned, she could fuck right off.
