Chapter 135: Family introductions

913words
This was in the 60s, mind you, so I took whatever jobs I could. Have you ever heard of the magazine Femme Fatale?"

I shook my head. "Never heard of it."

She smirked as she snubbed out her cigarette. "Femme Fatale was the Playboy version of Europe," she stated proudly. "I was their top model. Oh, the people I've met and the things I've done." She laughed as her gaze seemed to disappear to a past memory.

"You were a nude model?" I asked, feeling my heart flutter in my chest. I guess the saying was true: don't judge a book by its cover.

"I was the best damn nude model around, sweetheart." She laughed again. "But when I came back to the states, I let that all go. I traveled the states for many years, living my best years."

Wow. I honestly didn't expect the nude modeling part, but knowing that she had traveled all over made sense. She had that energy about her. Wild and Free.

"Now that you know my story, or the gist of it, why don't you continue about your man?" My hands twirled in my lap again before I blurted it out. "Dominick works in the adult film industry. He was the top porn star for XXX Studios for years, but now he's branching out to start his own studio. That's why he's not here right now."

She leaned back in her chair and studied me, but her gaze made me uncomfortable as I shifted in my seat. What the hell was she thinking? Not knowing was driving me mad.

"My little lynn... all grown up. However," she began as she leaned forward and took out another thin cigarette, "Why do I get the feeling that you're not okay with his profession?"

Shit. She felt that? "I, uh, I'm really new to that life. I'm trying to be okay with it all, but I don't know how to be. When I found out that he slept with women on camera for his job, I nearly lost it. Now that he's behind the camera, it doesn't make it any easier. He'll be watching people screw all day. I just... I have doubts that I'll be enough for him." I shrugged as I pulled my gaze away from her. It was the first time I admitted that out loud to someone. I'd given luis and Drake hints, but I haven't truly admitted my fear to either of them.

"You want to know what I think?"

I did. I really did, but when she didn't continue I had to nod my head at her.

"I think you're terrified that this man might actually completely adore you and you think you'll screw it up. Like how you blame yourself for how Jason turned out."

My face ran cold as I glared at her. "How did you...?"

She smiled. "I know everything, sweetheart. Just like I knew who you were dating before you even told me. I just wanted to hear your take on the man." She leaned forward and pulled my hands from my lap to embrace them. "Sex is a beautiful thing, lynn. I've been with all different shades and genders. Love is love and I can see that you truly love this man even through the doubts swirling in your head."

I nodded. She was so dead-on. "Will these doubts ever go away?"

"That's up to you, baby girl. You can continue to live in the shadow of your fear waiting for something to happen, or you can step into the light and let yourself fall head over heels for that man. He's not going anywhere and his career won't change that either."

"But what if..." I looked down to pull my gaze from hers. "What if I'm not good enough for him? What if he gets bored?"

She scoffed. "Honey, you've pulled him out of his darkness. He's never letting you go. And as far as the boring thing goes, are you referring to the bedroom?"

My cheeks blushed as I nodded. I didn't compare to the women he's been with and I probably never would.

"He doesn't want that. He never has. You're wholesome and real. Your connection is deep. That's all he's ever wanted."

I peered up at her, confusion masking my features. "How do you know all of this?"

She smirked. "Lots of practice with Madame Deutsch. She taught me how to open my mind."

"She's a psychic medium," Bobby blurted out as he approached with two coffees in his hands. "Listen to what she has to say, Molly. Aunt Rose has never been wrong."

"Thank you, sweet boy."

I glanced between the two of them as I tried to figure out what the hell just happened. A psychic medium? I'd never met one in real life and always thought they were bogus, but everything Aunt Rose had just said to me made sense.

"But I can see that you're still unsure about your bedroom skills, or the lack you think you have. I can help you fix that."

"How?" I asked as I leaned forward, eating out of her palms. If she had some tips for me, I was all ears.

"How do you feel about skipping breakfast and coming for a drive with me? There's a woman I'd love to introduce you to."

I looked over my shoulder towards the kitchen doorway and saw that everyone was still cooking and laughing. "Let's go."
