Chapter 40

Why.. Why would she lie to me? I mean...Nat? Attempting suicides again and again? I don’t believe it. I just don’t. At first, I thought maybe I should respect her privacy and just let it go.
But will she tell me the truth about.… this? You don’t ask a convict why you killed that stranger for no reason. There’s only a 0.00001% chance one of them would tell the tale.
But Nat? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just overthinking it all over again. But I needed to know. Reading her diary may help prevent this from happening in the future. If I could just find out the reason.

I flip the pages, and at first, I couldn’t find shit. I turned and turned and turned and there wasn’t anything that already didn’t know. I was nearly about to give up when I finally read this. The day we were going to shop together. When I...
Dear Diary.
Today, Angelica and I went shopping together. We stopped by a coffee shop where the guy server was eying her and asked for Angelica’s number. I wanted to stop their conversation not because I was jealous that she gets all the guys, but because I wanted to protect her from herself.
Angelica’s got a good heart, and these boys will only break it.
I know I can’t force her not to do something, but it hurt me to watch her getting trapped by all these guys. I wish I could do something back then.
That doesn’t mean I won’t protect her in the future though, I only hope well for her.

I know it’ll take time for us to settle but, I know everything is going to turn out just the way we both want! Soon.
Good night.
Okay... what the fuck was that? I mean. Protecting me is one thing, but this? Everything’s going to turn out ‘just the way we want’? This...I... I don’t know I..
I got so stuck in between her written words that I got totally distracted that someone was at the door.

--Knock knock--
I shook my head and hid the diary under the bed before running downstairs and opening the door.
As I swing it open, I see Jonathan leaning against the side wall, gazing deep in my direction.
“Jonathan!...I.. Wha..”
“Woah, you’re hyperventilating. Are you... okay?”
“I... I’m.. I’m fine. What are you doing here?”
“Well... I just came here to check up on you and Natalia.”
I stood there, frozen, and suddenly I realised he was still standing outside.
“I’m sorry. Do you want to come in?”
“Only if you want me to.”
“Just come.”
Jonathan laughs as I softly push him inside.
“just don’t talk too loud. Nat’s asleep.”
He signs to lock his lips and throw the key away while I walk towards my room and Jonathan follows behind.
“Impressive.”
“Shut up.”
I sit on my bed a little frustrated and Jonathan pulls out the chair from my desk, sitting on it himself. He reads me carefully, trying to understand what was wrong.
“You wanna talk about it?”
I gazed at him intensely. Deep in my heart, I knew he wouldn’t judge me, but I didn’t know if it was the right thing to do. I shook my head and looked over to the door, walking towards it and confirming if Nat was asleep or not. She was. I walk back inside the room, closing the door behind me, trying not to make a sound and sit on the bed again, whispering.
“It’s.. It’s just... stupid.”
“Nothing you say is stupid, Angelica.”
“I...”
I didn’t know if telling him about it would make things better. The least I wanted him to feel was, me acting like a totally creepy ass psycho trying to solve a mystery that doesn’t even exist. But Jonathan wasn’t like this, was he?
Instead, he insisted on listening to what I had to say carefully.
“I met Natalia’s mother today,” I say.
“How was she?”
“Honestly? Different. I used to go over to Nat’s place frequently before we first started living together. Mrs Polinski was always like a mother I never thought I would have. She cared for me, guided me, and even scolded me. Marla kept nothing from me, no matter how bad the situation was. She just always stayed truthful. Even if it was a little secret, she wouldn't hesitate to tell me.”
“But today? She..she stayed..still.”
“When I met her? I couldn’t recognize her a single bit. She was acting like a stranger. Like a person, you meet in a hospital with a patient of mutual incidents. She said some kind of... riddle.”
“A... riddle?”
“I know it’s stupid...I..”
“Oh no, no, it’s not stupid. Trust me, I’m not judging.”
“I guess I am overthinking this. I shouldn’t have...”
“Hey.”
Jonathan walked over to me and sat down on my knee, gazing into my eyes while he caresses my leg.
“You’re not overthinking this, okay? Whatever you did and whatever happened, you always had a gut feeling, didn’t you? And you’re doing this because you want Natalia’s doing at a stop right? It’s a good thing, Angelica.”
“Maybe.”
He gets up and lifts my chin, guiding me to face him as I bite my lower lip.
“Come on, you don’t get messed in things like these.”
“I got messed up with you.” I smile and giggle while I see that smirk on his face again.
“Really? I thought you were stuck with me. That hurt. I was wrong, after all.”
I shove him playfully, laughing.
“Shut up.”
He joins in and laughs, too. After a few seconds or so, he sits down once again, looking at my lips, and brushing his hands through my thighs.
“How do you always smell so good?”
“I...”
He didn’t even give me a chance to speak and brushed his fingers on p*ussy. I opened my mouth to moan, but he prevented it by placing his hand.
“I thought we were supposed to be quiet.”
Jonathan carefully lays me back and circles his fingers around my clit, making me quiver in sensations each time.
“Somebody got wet early.” He says while he removes his hand for me to speak.
“Only because of somebody’s touch.”
“You’re getting sexier day by day, Angelica.”
“Is that so?”
I quickly swapped places, and I placed my hips on the hard bone I needed to get soon.
“Oh, you’re getting stronger and quick.”
“Shh. No talking.” I whisper in his ear while circling my hips on his d*ck making him go insane.
“Oh.. Angelica. You make me fucking hard in seconds, you know that?”
I smile and leaned to capture him in a long passionate kiss, biting his lower one, giving love bites on his neck.
“You know, these jeans don’t suit you well. I think you should take them off.”
“I could say the same to you.”
He moved his hands from my waist to my upper body, while I work on removing his belt and pulling the zip down. We were so fucking paranoid for each other at the moment that we could do it the entire night. He took off my shirt and grabbed both my breasts, pulling them together.
Our rhythm was slow, but it was so sensual that it felt a thousand times better than rough sex.
“You’re making me go crazy for you. Jonathan.”
“Good, because you’re fucking mine.”
Jonathan said those words in such a kinky way that it made me feel goosebumps and the sensation you only get when you’re about to have an orgasm. Answering his, I say.
“I’m all yours.”
And locked our lips again, harder this time. He swayed his hands on my bare waist and I grabbed his hair for better grip.
Just as we were about to do it, the door swung open, startling us.
“Nat!”
She stood there holding the doorknob and looking in our direction, intensely, while we got dressed quickly.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know we had company.”
She says not apologetically, but aggressively.
