Chapter 51

Trevor POV
A smile breaks out on me as Tiffany slaps my arm for the hundredth time. “You should have told me Jane was coming over. Do you realize I just about had a heart attack when she banged on the door? You should have told her to call first to let us know she was coming or was outside. She didn’t have to shorten my life so much by scaring me to death.”
I shake my head and carry the load of boxes into the living room of our temporary apartment. “I’ve told you already, many times, that I didn’t know she was coming over. The only thing I had told her was that we were going over to your apartment to get a few things, but I never once told her to stop by. She has also apologized several times for scaring you. Now, can we move past this?”

I feel bad about the whole thing. The look of fear in her eyes is enough to break my heart. I never want to see that look again.
It doesn’t help she is on edge with this situation with her father. I wish my contacts would hurry up and get back to me. The longer they wait to respond, the more Tiffany’s nerves and her fears are getting the best of her. She needs to calm down, but right now, there is no chance of that happening.
Tiffany strides past me with a large box in her hands and a deep scowl on her face and then marches down the hall into the bedroom while shaking her head. “No. I’m still mad.”
I stare at her back and watch her disappear through the bedroom door. How can I fix this? Sigh.
Beth walks past me with an armful of boxes and follows Tiffany towards the bedroom. “You might as well just admit defeat right now. I don’t see any other way out of this.”
I take a deep breath and hope she is wrong, but Cassandra brings up the rear and nods. “Your only hope now is your so-called contacts. I’m starting to think they are a figment of your imagination and don’t exist.”

She couldn’t be any farther from the truth. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal who my contacts are or how I know them. We promised years ago to never acknowledge the others unless it is an emergency. This is bordering on the edge of an emergency, but I’m going to hold off for now. Tiffany and her friends probably wouldn’t believe me, anyway.
Cassandra stops by the bedroom door and looks around. A spark of something flashes in her eyes. “By the way, I’ve been dying to know. Who’s apartment is this, and are you staying here too?”
I scratch the back of my neck and debate on what to say. Tiffany and I have told the cast and crew from the drama, but we haven’t agreed to tell our friends and family yet.
Kyle knows already, but I don’t know about Tiffany’s friends.

My eyebrows knot together while Cassandra stares at me. The corners of her mouth slightly curl.
Is she smirking at me?
“WHAT!!!” Beth’s shrill voice slices through the growing tension.
I bolt forward, thinking something terrible has happened. Cassandra spins around, still holding the box, and rushes into the bedroom.
I dart to Tiffany’s side and look her up and down, making sure she is fine. “Are you alright? Did something happen? Did you drop something on yourself?”
Her eyes pop wide open and lock on Beth, who is a short distance away.
Beth blurts out. “YOU TWO ARE DATING AND LIVING TOGETHER!?”
I instantly freeze. Did she just say what I think she did?
Slowly, I turn around, afraid of what I’ll find.
Beth plants one hand on her hip while she breathes fire out of her nose.
Suddenly, I feel like I’m standing in front of my mother after she has caught me doing something wrong and is about ready to scold me.
Gulp.
I quickly glance out of the side of my eye at Tiffany, who is frozen in place, just like me. Her mouth is slightly open, and I can tell she wants to say something but doesn’t.
Beth grunts, “Well! I’m waiting.”
Slowly, I turn my attention back to her and Cassandra, who is now staring at us with the same spark in her eyes from moments earlier. Beth taps her foot on the carpet and glares daggers at me.
I clamp my mouth shut.
I get the strange feeling if I say the wrong thing, she will pounce on me and attack.
A smirk dances across Cassandra’s face as she playfully says, “I already knew.”
What?
My mouth falls open. How does she know?
Tiffany softly asks, “Did Kyle tell you?”
Kyle. Why didn’t I think of that? The two are secretly dating.
I raise an eyebrow, and now it is me with the mischievous glint in my eye.
A pink hue forms along Cassandra’s cheeks as she nods. “He told me as soon as he offered it up to Trevor.”
Beth whips around and turns her accusing look on her friend. “Just because you got some big famous hotshot actor as your boyfriend, it doesn’t mean you should keep information like this from me. We are supposed to be friends.”
Cassandra shrugs her shoulders and glances towards Tiffany and me. “It isn’t my secret to tell. If Tiff hadn’t told us soon, I would have told you. But I couldn’t believe you didn’t figure it out when we were at Tiff’s place. Trevor was acting like an overprotective boyfriend. Anyone watching would have known they were dating each other. You need to open your eyes more and see what is right in front of you.”
Hey, I don’t think I’m that obvious.
Some of the things the director and Jane have recently said to me coming rushing back, and I hesitate for a moment.
Maybe I’m not as sly as I thought I was.
Beth narrows her eyes at Cassandra and snorts. “I didn’t see anything that would tell me they were dating. I’ve always known about Tiff’s crush on Trevor, but I didn’t know Trevor liked Tiff back or that they had gotten past their unbreakable wall of friendship. How was I supposed to know they had confessed to each and moved to the next level?”
Her words suddenly stop, and she spins around towards my girlfriend and me. “You two did confess to each other, right?”
Tiffany and I nod but remain quiet.
Ring… Ring…. Ring….
I pull my phone out of my pocket and breathe a small sigh of relief. I’ve finally gotten the phone call I’ve been waiting for.

Rhonda POV
I stomp my feet across my living room while my grip tightens on my phone, and I growl, “What do you mean you don’t have any clue where he is at? I pay you enough money to find him. The drama is done. The cast and crew have done their going away party, and he wasn’t there. The only thing left are some events to promote the drama. I’m losing my control of everything. I need to know where Trevor is and now!”
Spit flies out of my mouth and through the air, while my rage surges through me.
By now, I should have had Trevor alone and gotten to be a little more friendly with him. I would have also found out whether my imagination is correct about what he is hiding under all those various layers of clothes.
Things aren’t working the way I want them to. This has to get back on track and soon.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know. Since the drama is done, I haven’t been told anything about him. I know nothing now. Sorry.”
UGH!!!
Idiots!! I’m working with a bunch of idiots!!
