Chapter 36

I lug the last suitcase into the extravagant apartment. Kyle walks past me, carrying another one of my bags. “You can stay here for as long as you want or need. This is one of my extra places when I’m working on this side of town, but right now, I prefer to go home to my main place.”
A playful smirk dances across his face as a mischievous glint flickers in his eyes.
I know exactly why he wants to go to his main house, and it has nothing to do with where he is working. The cute little kitten with a feisty personality is what draws him back there every day, kind of like me with Tiffany now.
I let out a snort and shake my head while I drag my bag through the living room towards the spare room. “I’m not going to use the master bedroom. I know you said I can, but I won’t. This isn’t my place, so I’ll stay in the guess room.”
He shrugs his shoulders and bounces behind me. “Okay. I just wanted to let you know you can use the entire apartment. Nothing is off limits for you. Plus, I don’t have much here. I’ve only spent a handful of lonely nights here since I bought it. I’ve been thinking about selling it since I don’t use it much. I’m glad I haven’t yet, so you can have a safe place to hide from the crazy witch. The reception desk has both your picture and Tiffany’s, so you two can come and go as much as you want.”
A smile tugs at the corners of my mouth.
We don’t have to worry about anything here. The building is locked down, and there is no way Rhonda can get through.
A cold shiver runs down my back.
The thought of her still sets me on edge.
I glance over my shoulder. “I don’t know how long this situation with Rhonda will last, but I’m thankful for your help. I owe you one. By the way, can I take Rhonda’s picture to the front desk and ask for her to be banned from coming to this apartment?”
He bounces up beside me and flashes me a wide grin. “I’ve already done it. I told them that under no circumstance is she allowed up to this apartment. They have promised me to abide by my request, and they have never lied to me before.”
“You should be set. No one else besides me is allowed to come up here. Any of your friends who might visit will be stopped and either you or Tiffany will have to go down and get them.”
A small weight is finally lifted off me.
We are safe. The crazy witch can’t get to us.
“Thanks. I owe you one.”
He lets out a hearty chuckle and shakes his head. “What are friends for? I’m sure in the future if I come to you needing help, you will happily return the favor. Right?”
I nod. “Yeah. Anything you need.”
Kyle looks towards the front door. “So…. When is Tiffany showing up? The two of you have been together almost every night since you took your relationship to the next level.”
My stomach flutters. I shake my head and shrug my shoulders. “I don’t know. She still had shoots to do and would probably be there rather late tonight, so I don’t know. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she had several bags in her car. She left early this morning, saying she needed to go back home, but she didn’t say why. The bright smile on her face told me everything I needed to know.”
Also, the slight bounce to her step did too.
She didn’t even let the security guards outside my apartment bother her. She had been so concerned about whether the security guards could handle the witch if she showed up, or whether they could hear what we were doing inside the apartment the night before.
The guards' presence didn’t really ease my mind, though.
A crazy woman is unpredictable. You never know what the lunatic will do.
Another chuckle rolls out of Kyle. “Tiffany isn’t innocent, so I would probably have to agree. I’ve only met her briefly. The two of you should come over to my place this weekend. We all can hang out, and I can find out some more information about her. Plus, my place is very secure. Just like here, no one is getting in unless I say they can.”
My forehead scrunches up, and I stare at him. “You don’t have to have us over. You can ask Cassandra everything you want to know. I’m sure she will tell you everything. She and Tiffany have been friends for quite a while.”
I step inside the spare bedroom and put the suitcase on the bed next to the other one.
Kyle shakes his head and sets the bag he is holding on the bed next to the others. “No. I can’t do that. Cassandra is very jealous, and if I ask a bunch of questions about a friend of hers, she will explode. I don’t want to deal with an extremely angry kitty.”
I pop open the suitcase in front of me. “I don’t think so. Cassandra knows exactly how you feel about her, and she also knows exactly how Tiffany feels towards me. My little kitten knows you have no chance with my girlfriend.”
He frantically shakes his head and sits down on the open spot in between the bags. “No. I’m not going to risk it. It is safer that way.”
He glances at his watch and then bolts off the bed. “I’ve got to go. I’ll talk to you later. Don’t have too much fun. You still must work in the morning.”
A soft chuckle spills from him as he leans towards me and winks before he runs out of the room.
I stare at the empty door.
Some days, I wonder how we can be such close friends.
I take a deep breath and shake my head before I turn my attention back to the clothes in the open suitcase.
They won’t put themselves away.
I pull a few items from the bag and head towards the closet.

Tiffany POV
I pull into the new apartment’s parking garage and fight back a yawn. My eyelids grow heavy, but I don’t let the sleepiness win.
We had some technical difficulties, and it took much longer to film the rest of the scenes for the day. A few of the scenes were pushed off to tomorrow morning. Hopefully by then, they will have everything fixed.
I soon find Kyle’s reserved parking spots and park next to Trevor’s car.
Excitement bubbles up within me.
I can’t imagine what Kyle paid for this place. The outside of the building oozes wealth with the full glass exterior and marble sidewalk. I wouldn’t be surprised if the handles on the front door are made of some precious metal.
With a smile on my face and bounce to my step, I get out and grab my bags from the back seat.
I quickly make it into the apartment. The big plans of how we will enjoy ourselves in the new bedroom dance in my mind and ignite my desire.
My body springs to life.
Wetness slides down my walls and pools in between my legs with each step. This almost feels like our first time all over again.
I burst through the front door. “I’m home.”
Instead of getting the warm welcome I’ve been dreaming of, I’m met with silence and a dimly light apartment.
What the heck? Where is he?
A light down the hall pulls me to it.
With my bags still in my hands, I head towards it.
As I approach the open door, I softly call out. “Trevor? Are you there?”
Once again, I’m met with silence.
My desire fades slightly and is replaced with concern.
I step into the bedroom. My mouth falls slightly open when I finally get the answer I’ve been looking for.
Trevor is sound asleep on the bed, still in his clothes. A soft snore breaks the deafening silence.
A few of his bags still have things in them and are sitting on top of the bed, while a few empty suitcases lay at the foot of the bed.
I let out a long sigh.
Well, I guess our first night in the new apartment isn’t going to be as special as I had hoped. The corner of my mouth slides to the side and then into a small frown.
At least he is here. I’m sure he will find a way to make it up to me, or at least, I hope.
