Shan's POV
"Babe, I can't believe daddy John isn't my biological father," I stated as my girlfriend tried to calm me down.
"Babe, I know there's a significant reason your mother kept everything hidden from you, and I know she doesn't want to hurt you," she said.
I got out of bed and pondered. Is it possible that whoever is my biological father abandoned by mom or that he abandoned us? If he ever left, he must have been stupid enough to abandon us.
Right now, I love my father even more because, although he is not my biological father, he makes me feel special, and even my grandparents, Grandma Jonalyn and Grandpa Jonathan, adore me.
"Babe, do you think I simply reacted too much?" I questioned Ciara because I felt like I was overreacting previously, but how could you blame me if I was surprised? I don't believe that, but do I still need to meet my biological father?
I opened the door after hearing someone knock, and it was just Grandpa and Grandma. I wish my other grandparents were here as well, but they are currently in Davao.
"Oh, my grandchild, we heard what happened. Come, let's talk to your parents," says my grandmother.
As I walked out of the room, I had just realized that I needed to confront the truth. "I'm just here next to you," Ciara murmured, holding my hands.
I noticed Mommy, Daddy, my sister Jane, and Faith seated in the living room when we arrived. I sighed as Ciara and I took a seat on the couch.
"Good and you're out, Shan," mom said before she handed me a photo. "He is Phillip Garcia and he is your real Father," she says. I know I have seen him before when I was young but I can't remember.
"He used to be my ex-boyfriend for three years when we were still living in Davao," Mom continued, tears streaming down her cheeks. "You know that I am not originally from Butuan because I grew up in Davao," she added.
Mom shows me a photo of Phillip, and I stare at it again. I realized we had something in common when it comes to appearances. "The reason you moved here is because of me?"
"Your Grandparents can't take it any longer that I'm having trouble there," she said, nodding. "I'm always thinking about our relationship. He left me when he found out I was pregnant and he vanished."
"For him to do that to you, he must be a jerk," I added. Hearing the story, I'm still grateful to God that Mom chose Daddy John over my biological father.
"I know, that's why I didn't tell you about him; I didn't want you to remember about him while you were still in my womb."
"Then why bring it up now? I mean, you seemed upset earlier while talking to Dad," I questioned.
"Do you remember Julie?" she inquired. I'm not sure why Julie joined the conversation today. "She's Phillip's daughter."
My eyes grew wide and I also looked at Ciara who was also shocked by the revelation, "What?! Wow, what a small world."
I can't believe she's my father's sister. That explains why I was relieved when I first met her. It's not because she's my soulmate or because I felt the same way about Ciara, but because she's my sister.
Others claim that blood leaps. "Shan, always remember that even if you're not our true grandchild, I love you so much. You two with Jane," Grandma Jonalyn and Grandpa Jonathan hugged me tightly.
I smiled and hugged them. I love them dearly and I would never trade them for anything.
"Dad, even though I know you are not my real father, you are just my number one dad. You are the best dad in the whole wide world because even though you are not my father, you loved me. You love my mom and me," I stated as I approached him.
"I love you, too," he said with a smile. "That's the one thing I promised your mother. That is I would love you as my own, like my son, and nothing else."
"Thank you, Dad and Mom, for everything."
Ciara's POV
"What?! You and Julie are siblings?!" It is now Friday and we had the urge to tell our friends about the truth. We haven't told them the last four days as we were so busy and it was not the right time to spill the tea. Speaking of, here we are at our favorite milk tea shop, Lemon Time.
We don't have school because everyone is busy. After all, it's just our exam week. No need to worry because we're done and there aren't too many schedules.
Another reason why we meet is because of group study and of course, gossip.
Shan just shrugged, still can't believe what he just discovered last Saturday, "How did that happen?" Patricia asked.
"Mom revealed that my father, John wasn't my real Dad. It was some man named Phillip," he said and Patrick just sighed.
"Phillip Garcia is your real Dad?"
Shan looked at him with mixed surprise, "Do you know him?"
"Yeah, I do. Didn't I tell you that Julie had been my ex-girlfriend before when I was still in Davao?" Shan just shook his head, "Oh. Well, anyway, now you know so I probably met his parents too."
Shan nodded, "How well did you know him?" Shan asked, "I mean, his features and attitude?"
"He's kind and he's just like you, he's good at basketball. He loves his family but also seems sad. Now that I know the truth, I think he misses you," Patrick said that, and suddenly I felt sorry for him, to his dad.
I know that it has been hard and all he wants is to be reunited with Shan.
"I don't know, bro if I can face him or even get to know him. I mean, my life is perfect with my dad right now. I don't need him in my life."
Patrick sighed, "But, he needs you."
"He should have thought about that before leaving Mom. She said that he left us when she was pregnant with me so I guess that he didn't need me at all," he said and just continued drinking his milk tea and reading notes.
I sighed and looked at the twins and just shrugged. We won't disturb Shan first and maybe he'll just be mad at us.
While I was reading the notes, suddenly someone texted me and when I opened my phone, it was from Jay and said that the Accountancy Program has a sudden program tomorrow and we will perform a song for tomorrow.
"Is there an event to be held tomorrow at school?"
Patrick thought, "I don't know," he said.
"Oh, I think so. Wait let me check first," Patricia picked up her phone and opened the academic calendar on our school's website, "Oh yeah, in the Accountancy Program about the new Governor and Ambassador's of Good Will of Accountancy."
I nodded because I didn't know that there were such programs at school. It's like I'm too outdated in events or I'm just too busy with my academics.
"Why did you ask, babe?" Shan asked me.
I showed them my phone, "We have a practice and we will perform tomorrow for the event."
"Okay," Patrick said with a laugh, "Don't worry, we will support your performance."
"Yes and we also support Kyle," Patricia added. I remembered that one of our smart block-mate joined the ambassador for goodwill.
"Kyle, is that the one flirting with you before?" Shan asked and Patricia's cheek blushed slightly. I knew they used to be a fling but didn't work out and I already knew Kyle in Junior High because he was also very famous at school because of his talent.
"Yeah but let's not talk about that. I don't want to remember him," I just laughed and I replied Jay to the messenger.
"Hey, semester break is also near. We can finally avoid stress," Patrick said, "What are you going to do this break?"
Shan shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, Mom didn't say anything if we have a trip."
Patrick looked at me, "How about you, Ciara? Do you have any plans?"
"I don't know with my parents. We've never been able to bond ever since," I said. I don't know if we'll ever have bonded, especially since my parents and I are okay now, "If what will happen, then maybe I'll just go with Shan's family or bonding with Patricia."
He nodded and said again, "Cool. What if the four of us can bond? It's stressful because the semester is now and I know that the second semester is more stressful."
"Yeah. Let's just set a schedule," Patricia said and looked at her watch, "It's noon. Come on, let's have lunch."
"Yeah, we'll have a practice later," I said and arranged my gear so we could have lunch as well.
We take our lunch and then I went back to school for our practice for tomorrow. When I got to our music room, only Jay and Josh were there so we were waiting for everyone to arrive.
Just a few minutes later, everyone has arrived but except for Jubilee, which is because she is busy since she is a Student's Assistant.
"Okay, thank you for all coming even though this performance was so sudden," Jay said, "It's annoying because now they've been talking about it. What do they think, can it be straightforward?"
If I was in his situation, maybe I would be annoyed too. We need to prepare for such events, I hope they said they are ahead of time.
"We can do that, bro. Let's just choose a song for tomorrow, well, it's just one song," said Josh.
"I can choose a song, but the question is who will sing?" Yeah, Jubilee isn't around.
"Why not Ciara? She has a beautiful voice, doesn't she? She can sing while she plays the piano," said one of our bassists, Glenn.
"Okay, are you okay with it, Ciar?" Jay asked so I nodded because I also had no choice but to not play. I also grabbed the chance about this.
"All right, Sundo is also about your voice. You know that, don't you?" I nodded, "Good. All right, let's get started."
We also started practicing and we didn't realize it was four o'clock in the afternoon and that's when we decided to end the practice.
"Tomorrow, the program is at ten AM so we should be ready on stage with our equipment by about nine," Jay ordered and we agreed.
I went out of the music room and contacted Shan where he was and he said he was in the shed and with Ate Faith so I thought of going to them.
"Hi," I greeted as soon as I arrived and I could see the width of my boyfriend's smile, "Aww, you're really cute, babe."
He squeezed my cheeks, "You're way cuter, babe."
I saw Faith frown, "You guys, you're making me jealous, I can't stand it."
We both laughed at what she said so I put my arm around her, "So, it's better that you find a boyfriend."
"Oh my, well, that's not in my vocabulary," she said and laughed, "I'm already busy with our lab projects, will that add up?"
"I'm just taking a chance," I joked, "Come on, let's go for a walk first ..."
"All right, come on and now we break. I want to ditch the class," she said and just pulled the two of us together.
Shan put his arm around me, "Who were you talking to or earlier?"
"Who? The one with me in the band?" he nodded, "Ah, Glenn? Why?"
"Nothing, just asking," he said and averted his eyes.
I smiled, "Aww, don't be jealous. He's just a friend and we just discussed something."
"I'm not jealous," he said laughing. I was just shaken because he was so cute when he was jealous.
