Shan's POV
I decided to just stroll towards Jollibee because Ciara stated that was where they were going and I want to meet Patrick, their new friend.
As soon as I walked in, my eyes caught sight of Patricia, who was waiting in line, so I approached her, and she seemed surprised to see me, "Oh, you're here. Did Ciara inform you that we'd be here?"
"Yes. Is it okay for me to join you because there is no class and it's quite boring?"
"Of course!" She exclaimed, laughing.
"It's quite awkward that you're with someone."
"Who? Patrick? Don't think about that coward because he's my twin." I nodded and placed an order for myself as well.
She even suggested there was no need because his twin was paying, but I'm uncomfortable because I don't know him well enough yet, so I'd better spend my own money.
I simply followed Patricia through the line until she placed her order and supplied us with everything we wanted. It was also quite a lot, so Patty was fortunate that I was with her and that I was able to assist her.
"Can you tell me where they are?"
"They're upstairs," she said, and as I mounted the stairwell, I spotted her with Patricia's twin sister.
I grinned when I saw him, but I looked when I noticed his hand grasping Ciara's hands, "You'll never be alone again now that I'm your friend and now I'm here."
I didn't know what was happening to me when I heard Patricia's twin's comments, but I felt like something had pierced my heart, which was incredibly painful, especially when I saw it holding her hand that should be only me who is holding.
"Best friend!" I drew their attention and Ciara's eyes widened as she saw me.
"What are you doing here, Shan?" she asked, but my gaze was drawn to Patricia's twin.
I'll never forget what he said to Ciara about friendship. What is it that he wants and needs? Is he going to take my best friend away from me?
"Shan?" Ciara called and sighed. "Give it to me," she said, taking the tray I was holding.
Patricia's twin grinned and walked up to me. "You're Shan, one of Trio SHA's members," he remarked as he extended his hands to her. "I'm Patrick Lim, by the way."
I gazed at his hands before returning to his face and shaking his hand, "Shan Anderson."
He smiled and nodded. He said, "Take a seat," and Patricia arrived with some other tray.
"I went downstairs and got some utensils. It's here," She placed the food in front of us and sat close to her twin.
"All right, before we eat, let's pray," he said, closing his eyes to pray.
I almost forgot to mention that Patty's family is Christian, so perhaps Patrick is as well.
They were talking while we were eating, and I was simply engaging so as not to appear out of place in their discussion.
"I had a great time yesterday. I hope we have another movie marathon," As a result of what Patrick had said, I turned to face Ciara.
"Did you watch a bunch of movies yesterday?" If Patrick responded, I asked her a question.
"It's a shame you weren't at our place yesterday," he commented while eating, "Ciara came to see me at our place, and we had a movie marathon."
Ciara's eyes widened and she laughed, "Hello there! For your information, I went there to see Patricia, not you."
Patricia chuckled, "Yes, indeed! Pat, you're so conceited!"
Patrick simply shakes his head, and they continue to converse. Ciara appears to be joyful, smiling, and laughing when I look at her.
I pondered whether I was truly going to lose my best friend.
I'm not sure what's bothering me right now, but I'm used to being her only male friend.
It's strange because I'm not like this with anyone, including my girlfriend Julie.
We all know she's popular and has a lot of guy friends, and no one ever sprang to mind when she was with a guy to get jealous.
I hate to say it, but I don't want Ciara to make new friends, especially if one of them is a guy. I'd like to be his only guy friend or best friend.
But maybe I'm just being weird like I'm being too tight with her and acting like a crazy psychopath boyfriend, although my role in her life is merely that of a best friend.
Ciara's POV
It's nearly six o'clock in the evening, and our final class period of the day will be about to end. We also went to our one thirty class in the afternoon with Patrick after our lunch.
Inside the campus, the females had a huge crush on him. Who wouldn't like him? He is so attractive, and the ladies think he's a hottie.
Even though I find him appealing, my heart belongs to somebody who I know will not respond.
Shan has been unusually quiet since we came back to school. He's been so serious all afternoon, and it's got me wondering because I know him too well. Shan has never been like that before. He might have a problem, but what is it?
I was curious whether they had an issue with Julie. Was he annoyed with her because she got home slightly earlier? But I know Shan better, and the reason isn't so plain.
"Shan, are you all right?" I asked as I patted him.
"Hmm?" he inquired, closing his eyes and saying, "Yeah, I'm okay."
I saw him smile, but I knew it was a ruse. I sighed and nodded instead of forcing him to tell the story since I didn't want him to think I was interested in his life.
When I turned to Patricia, she was engaged in a conversation with her twin.
Shan cleared his throat to get my attention so I turned to him and he asked, "Are you busy later?"
I considered it, but all I knew was that I was vacant, so I told him I wasn't busy, and he smiled. "I was just wondering if we're going to have a movie marathon later at home? We could also go to Uncle Derek's restaurant and have a look around."
"Sure!" I said, remembering how much I missed Uncle but then I also remembered something, "Don't you have plans with Julie?"
With a simple shake of his head, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, "No. She's currently occupied, as she told me, with her mother."
I said, "Okay, better call Faith as well," and he just nodded.
Patricia and I went to the restroom first after class, "You appear to be in good spirits. What are your current whereabouts?"
"Shan and I are going out. Maybe only at their house or at Uncle Derek's restaurant for dinner," I remarked this as I applied powder to my face.
She smiled and said, "Okay. That's fine, and it appears as though you'll have time to be together. You two haven't spent much time together since Julie entered his world."
I let out a sigh, "Yes, I agree. I missed him, Patty."
I adjusted my make-up bag and placed my pouch in my purse before leaving the place. We went downstairs to find Patrick and Shan, who were both busy pushing keys on their smartphones.
When Shan spotted me, he smiled and said, "Let's go, Ciara."
"Where are you two going?" Patrick asked Shan and me.
"Shan and I will just go for a trip as we used to do," I said, looking at Shan, who was extremely quiet.
"Like on a date?" Patrick humorously asked, but Patricia simply nudged him.
"Keep quiet, you monster," she muttered to him and stared at us, "I beg your pardon. My identical twin has a cough in his head. Come on, let's go home. Bye, see you around!"
Patrick has yanked away and I overheard him complain. I couldn't stop laughing at their siblings' discomfort. I observed them walk straight to Patrick's motorcycle, which was parked in the parking lot.
"Did you bring your car?" I asked Shan.
"I just bought my motorcycle today," he said, taking my hand in his and leading me to his motorcycle, which was parked next to Patrick.
Patrick's motor is stunning and unquestionably pricey, but Shan's is even more so. Shan is wealthy and capable, even though they live a humble life.
Patrick was enthralled, "Wow, dude. Is this yours? The model and the design are both spectacular."
"Yeah, yours too," Shan smirked.
"Didn't you two say you were leaving?" I asked Patrick as soon as I discovered Patricia was missing.
"You know my twin, he's always dang starving," he rolled his eyes.
I agreed and chuckled at what he said. Shan surprised me by handing me a helmet and putting it on my head.
"We'll go first, dude. Inform Patty that Ciara and I had left," Shan said nothing more than a shrug.
Shan got on his motorcycle first, and I followed closely behind him. He drove well, and it's a good thing he was talking and laughing instead of being completely silent.
We arrived at Uncle Derek's restaurant after he drove around the city. Inside their restaurant has a small coffee shop. The restaurant's construction is pretty good, and I like it a lot.
"Is Faith on her way?" I asked, but he simply said no. It's like a date for me because we're the only ones eating.
When we stepped inside, I noticed that someone else was dining. Also Uncle Derek, Aunt Giselle, and their daughter, Honey Shane. "Hello, Uncle Derek!" we said as we approached the station.
He smiled when he saw me and said, "Oh, it's you. You didn't say you'd come here, did you?" he came out from behind their desk and hugged me.
I said, "Shan invited me to dine."
Shane rushed over to me and hugged me, "Ciara, how are you? I miss you!" She kissed me on the cheeks as she greeted me. Shane is about seven years old, and she is a gorgeous young lady.
"I missed you, too, baby." I turned to Uncle Derek and said, "Hey, uncle, I'm sure you already know what we're looking for."
He nodded and motioned for us to sit with Shan in our usual position. Uncle Derek has a few regular clients. Of course, we are his favorite two, since Shan's parents are his number one.
I felt hesitant to speak when I looked at Shan. I'm not sure what's going on, but it looks like there's something strange going on right now.
"How are you doing?" we asked each other at the same time, and we both laughed at our stupidity.
"We're both saying it at the same moment," I joked, still laughing.
"Seriously, how are you doing, my best friend?" he asked, still smiling.
I understand he is serious but is there an issue? He's strange to me because he's never been like this before. Since then, he has never greeted me. Anyway, Shan and I didn't spend every day apart back then, but now since he's so preoccupied with Julie, we've become frigid.
"I'm OK," I said, slapping him on the arm. "How are you? We haven't seen each other in almost a year, it seems." I was joking, but I noticed he was really serious, so I felt compelled to ask if he was okay.
He said, "I'm OK," I know something's wrong with him, but he won't tell me what it is.
I took his hand in mine and felt the sparks again, like if I were electrified, but I brushed it off, "Are you sure you're okay, Shan? Are you and Julie all right?"
He nodded as well. "We're fine; we don't have any issues while we're together."
I merely murmured, "That's good," and took my hands off him. "I thought you two were fighting. This is most likely the first time you are not with her."
"It's simply that I genuinely miss you, best friend," he said with a sigh, "I'm starting to feel like I'm losing you."
I was taken aback and gave him a surprised look "Why did you even think about that? Whoever informed you, I'm going to hit them in the face!"
He made a funny face at me, "I just had a thought about it. I feel completely out of place in your company with Patricia, especially now that a new friend has joined the group."
He glanced at me as I held his face, "Shan, you're also Patricia's friend, and we'll never abandon you. Of course, because you're usually busy, we don't always invite you," I just replied some, and he nodded.
"Don't you realize I can't afford to lose you in my life? Of course, I just want to make up for all my failings as your best friend."
"Gosh, I can't afford to lose you in my life too," I think, my cheeks flushed with quivering and happiness.
