“Calling the attention of all the students, please proceed to the open field.”
We heard from the speaker of the school. Maybe this is the time that they will announce the next program.
I stood up and looked at the girl beside me. Her head was on the table and covered with some of her hair.
“Let's go, I think, they will announce an important thing,” I said while staring at her and waiting for her movements.
I gently poke her shoulder. “Are you awake or not?” I asked while slowly moving my head towards her ear.
She moved all of a sudden, she fixes her hair and lean on the chair. She wiped her face and blinked for a couple of seconds.
“Did I fall asleep?” she asked while wiping her eyes. “Do I have dried saliva?” she continued asking.
My eyes widen and too stunned to speak. She combs her hair using her fingers and drink some water.
I shook my head as a response. She took a deep sigh.
“Calling the attention of all the students, please proceed to the open field.”
The speaker was echoing again and saying the same words recently.
“What's happening? Why do we need to go to the open field?” I shrugged my shoulder. I hold her wrist when she stands up.
“Let's go?” I said while smiling at her. She allow me to hold her and guide her until we reached the open field.
The students were in a line, and they are holding a piece of paper.
“For all the students who arrived right now, please fall in line according to your team's last program,” the vice president said while holding the microphone.
I saw Jihan, he smiled at me and wave his hand. I gently pulled Astrid until we reached the area.
“Hello, master!” Jihan greeted me. I nodded at him and pats his shoulder.
“Did you prepare all the things that I told you? How about the foods?” I questioned. I'm waiting for his confirmation.
“Yes, master, preparation was done! You can check it if you want, plus I contacted our pack to guard the surrounding,” he stated.
I gave him a sign to lower his voice and avoid talking about some stuff that was not related to my questions.
“My bad, I apologize.” He bows his head. My head turned in Astrid's direction. Her eyebrow was raised and lost in confusion.
“Don't mind him, let's listen to the vice president!”
“Completed or not? Set aside the numbers, kindly raise your hand if you are a player from our second game?”
We raised our hands. The secretary noted it.
“From the students of the third game, which is the phases of the moon, we collected 15 students, plus the 10 players of the winner in the second game, in all we have 25 players that eligible to proceed to the next game!”
The crowd suddenly became noisy. They are shouting and tapping some objects.
“Please go to the right corner for those students which I announced.”
The students moved immediately and they make a line according to their commands.
It goes smoothly, and calmly. There's a huge brown box in front of us.
“The box contains some different colors of camping jacket, yes, you heard it right, we are going to a forest!” the officer announced.
Someone pats my shoulder. “Excuse me, have you seen Yuan?” the girl asked. I stare at her and force myself to recall her name.
I raise my eyebrow. “I'm Hailey, and I'm looking for Yuan, he was missing for a while and I can't find him,” the girl continued.
“Why are you looking for him?” I questioned. She stood up properly and fixes her bangs.
“As you can see, I'm his girlfriend, I need to tell him something, it's important, however, I couldn't see him,” she proclaimed.
“Girlfriend?” I clarified. She nodded as a response. I scanned the whole area, and I saw my brother's direction.
He was talking with Astrid in front of the students.
I pointed in his direction. She walked towards him. The officers began to distribute the camping jacket. When it's my time to accept the jacket, the dean enters the stage.
“Now, we know that we are going to the camping site, which is the forest, I'm allowing you to join, but please, be responsible for your actions,” he cuts his words.
He gulped a couple of times. “You all know what is right, and what is wrong, please be aware that going far away from our site may lead to danger, there are still some animals in their habitat, we are just the visitor,” he explained.
The students were listening to him while holding the camping jacket.
“We are going to distribute the map when we reach the designated location of the bus, please be early,” he reminded.
“Maybe, that's all I can say, I'm here just to guide all of the students, thank you for listening!” The crowd clapped their hands.
Some of them are shouting for a short time.
The campus officer is now holding the microphone.
“Just like what he'd said, we should be aware,” the officer said. Some of the students were giving us a piece of paper.
“We handed the list of the necessary needs, in case some of you are not familiar with the supplies, and things for camping.”
I looked at Jihan. He nodded his head indicating that he prepared all the necessary things, from the camping tent, sleeping bags, blankets, pillow, rechargeable lights, and so on.
I went to the Astrid location. “I thought you're not going to participate?” I asked.
She turned her head and smiled at me.
“I changed my mind, besides it seems fun!” she said with a joyous voice. Yuan was standing beside her while staring at my area.
“Yuan, Hailey was looking for you, she's your girlfriend, right?” I questioned sarcastically. He cleared his throat.
I felt that the atmosphere changed. It becomes an awkward scenario.
“We are requiring for all the players to write their contact information, we need it for sending the other details and reminders before going to the forest, hope you understand.”
We moved to the table where the officers are guiding. I wrote my email address and my phone number.
“After this, can we go to the book store? I'm planning to buy some new books for our camping, and it seems a good idea,” Astrid offered.
“Sure! No problem!” I replied without any hesitation.
“What? Seriously? How about our plans? We decided it earlier, and we talked about it, did you change your mind?” Yuan disagrees with her decision.
“I'm sorry since we are going to a camp, I want to buy some books, because I know the signals of our phone will be gone, and it's not good for me,” she explained.
Yuan scratched his nape because of Irritation. I smirked at him secretly.
When all of us are done, I hold her hand and gently pulled her away from the crowd.
“I know a newly open bookstore, I hope we can find an interesting book!” I cheerfully said while holding her.
She walked beside me. She changed her mood all of a sudden. If you're going to observe her personality, she will get annoyed with you if you're going to talk to her from time to time.
It's all based on my observation. When it was my first day in school, she annoyed me.
It's because my actions were weird and sudden. Even I couldn't think that I'm going to do it.
The bell rang. We are still in the hallway, walking peacefully. We both remained silent and feel the wind touching our skin.
Her palm is smooth and soft. Her fingers are perfectly fit to my hand.
“May I know, what genre do you prefer to read?” she asked which makes to break the silence between us.
I think for a couple of seconds.
“Mystery or thriller, that's the first genre that caught my interest in books, how about you?” I asked.
It's the best time to know more about her. I want to know her.
“Before I like romance novels or tragedy with romance, it's funny to reminisce that I'm waking up with swollen eyes,” she said with giggles.
She sway our hands like she was walking in the park. We reached the gate of our school.
“But now, I love to read tragedy without romance, or mystery with some kind of paranormal,” she continues.
I gently squeeze her soft hands. She looked at me with a smile on her face.
“This is the way!”
