Damien's pov
Roman had never handed control back so easy or quickly, he knew too well he couldn't help and didn't want to waste time bickering.
Putting my pants on in record time, I held her hair back and rubbed her back as she threw up all she ate… well, barely ate.
I used my shirt to wipe the corners of her mouth when she was done and she got a good whiff of it.
“Your scent is calming” she smiled a little and I took her into my arms.
“Are you okay?” I asked once she'd settled, nose buried in my neck.
“Yeah, a little, I don't know what happened. I was fine one second and then, I was falling” she said, her breathing a little taxed.
“Urg, I'm so tired all of a sudden” she groaned, worrying me more.
“Has your blood work come back yet? It's been a while” Pearl said, reminding me of their presence, and that call that'd slipped my mind.
“Fuck, yeah, the doctor did call, yesterday before all the crazy, I'm sorry I forgot” I said, kissing her forehead and she gave me a lazy smile.
“We could go now? Carry me while I snooze for a minute” she said, her eyes closing.
“Alpha, should we go get her parents to meet you guys at the hospital?” Pearl asked but I had a better idea.
“No, I'll have the doctor meet us at the palace, it's faster than going to the hospital” I said, hurriedly making my way back.
“Lucien, get Martin to the palace, now!” I said, trying to walk fast and gentle enough to not wake Alari.
“Who's hurt?” Lucien asked in amusement and I felt a bit of annoyance at the question, even though I knew he was already rushing to carry out the order.
“Your Luna” I said, and was met with silence.
“I'll make sure he's there before you!” he growled back and I smirked, liking how fast he'd switched tones the moment he knew it was his Luna that needed the doctor.
I got the feeling something wasn't right, not in a bad way but like there was something should know but couldn't quite pin it.
And why was Roman so damn calm?! “Did Sapphira tell you something you should be telling me?” I asked, annoyed that my own beast was so fond of keeping shit from me, especially in a situation like this.
“Mate is okay, she just needs rest” he said with a smirk, making me believe there was more.
“And?” I asked when I realised I had to pry it out of him, my Lycan's a dick!
“First of all, you're the dick and I don't have to tell you anything” he said and put up a wall so I couldn't evesdrop on his conversation with Sapphira.
True to his word, Lucien was standing at the palace entrance and I noticed his worried expression as we approached.
“Damien what happened?” He questioned the second I was in ear shot and as endearing as it was, I just wanted to get inside and make sure Alari was alright.
“Not now Lucien, where's Martin?” I asked going inside.
“Your floor, I thought you'd appreciate the privacy” he said tailing behind me.
“Yeah, thanks” I said, ascending the steps. It took a while to get to our floor because I had to be gentle but we eventually did.
Martin stood outside our chambers with two guards and bowed respectfully at our arrival.
“Alpha” he greeted and I nodded. Lucien opened the door and I entered, with the doctor behind me.
She stirred when I put her in the bed and her eyes opened the second I let go.
“Hey baby” I said, brushing her hair back.
“We're back?” She asked, sitting up. I put pillows behind her so she could be comfortable.
“Yeah, thought it'd be better to come here than go to the hospital” I said and she nodded.
“Hello Doctor Martin” she smiled at the young doctor and he blushed before bowing.
“Hello Luna” he greeted back, looking away from us.
“I'm hungry but I have to brush my teeth first” she said, her mouth twisting in disgust.
“I'll have someone bring food, Martin, give us a minute” I said, helping her to the bathroom.
“Take your time Alpha” he said, putting his bag down.
I stood behind her, running my hands up and down her sides as she brushed her teeth.
I fought to not get turned on when she bent over to rinse, pushing her soft plump behind again my crotch.
She leaned against me when she came back up, “urg, I'm so hungry!” She whined, turning in my arms to face me.
“I feel like a constant heart attack waiting to happen, witches, magic, gateways and now whatever this is. I'm going to give you grey hairs baby” she said, the last part with a sigh and I smiled at her.
“I wouldn't have it any other way… except for the witches” I said, making her laugh and hug me.
“Okay, let's not keep the good doctor waiting” she said, and I prepared myself for whatever was to come.
“I think he has a crush on you” I blurted out, trying to distract myself.
“I'm his Luna, he can't have a crush on me. Admiration more like it” she said, pulling away.
“It's a crush” I said, opening the door for her.
“It is not” she said, and I just rolled my eyes as we joined the doctor, who stood the moment we came into the room.
We sat down on a couch in front of him and he pulled out an envelope, smiling as he handed it over to me.
“Those are the results of the blood work I sent to have tested” Martin said, waiting for me to open it.
“I'm nervous” Alari said with a giggle, and I put a hand on her thigh for comfort.
“Once we know what's going on, we can handle it” I told her, kissing her forehead.
I opened it and read through it, it's contents nowhere near what I was expecting.
Raising my head, I looked at the doctor with wide eyes, asking if this was true.
And he nodded in confirmation, making my heart skip a beat. Was this really happening?
“Believe it buddy” Roman said proudly and I felt like jumping for joy.
“What is it? Tell me” Alari said impatiently, and I handed her the results to see for herself as I absorbed the news, doing a little happy dance in my head.
“I'm pregnant?” I couldn't tell if she was devasted or shocked, but I knew there was uncertainty in her voice.
“Yes Luna, congratulations” Martin said, and I couldn't bring myself to react, what if she didn't want this?
Yeah we'd spoken about children but that was in passing, not an actual conversation, plus all the shit that's going on doesn't make it an ideal time to have a baby… Fuck!
Alari looked me in the eyes and I saw tears in them. My heart froze, she didn't look happy, shit, she doesn't look happy.
Just as I finished the thought, she broke out into a teary smile, “we're having a baby” she laughed, bouncing on the sofa like a child that was just told they're going to Disney world.
My heart welled up with love and joy and so much relief! And it felt like I was going to explode from the inside out.
Grabbing her face, I crashed my lips on hers and kissed her like my life depended on it. I'm going to be a father!
She pulled away suddenly, her hands trembling as she brought them up to her lips.
“Damien… I died last night” she said, making me blink a few time, taking in what she just said.
Oh Goddess, does that mean… no!
“Relax you two, our pup is just fine. Mother said our body uses about sixty percent of our magic to keep the pup safe” Sapphira
“Oh Thank Goddess” Alari sighed and leaned back into the couch.
“You sound like you've known for a while Sapphira, did Roman know as well?” I asked as Alari kept starring at the piece of paper.
“It wasn't my place to ruin this moment for you” she said, making me sigh and take Alari's hand into mine.
“Alpha, Luna, I'll pencil you in for a proper appointment, I shall leave you now” Martin said, getting up.
“Wait, this wasn't why we called, Alari wasn't well earlier” I said in a rush as he was about to leave.
“Actually, I think it's the pregnancy” Alari said with a shrug but I needed to be sure she was okay.
“A quick check up to be sure” I said, almost pleading with her.
“Alright” she said, sitting up straight.
Martin check her heart rate, blood pressure, and even took a blood sample but said she was fine and recommend rest.
“We're going to be parents Damien” Alari said when the door closed behind Martin.
Pulling her into my lap, I held her face, watching her cheeks turn rosy.
“Do you have any idea how happy I am” I said, her smile growing bigger.
“Actually, I do” she said leaning in to kiss me.
“Oh Goddess!” She exclaimed after pulling away, leaving me yearning for more and confused.
“What is it, are you hurt?” I panicked, the thought of even a scratch on her body sending fury to run wild in my veins.
“My parents are going to lose their minds! Pearl's definitely going to go into nesting mode, mom's going to be overprotective and dad is going to make me nasty concoctions” she said, grimacing at the last part.
“If they make my baby grow big and strong, you're so drinking them” I laughed, making her slap my shoulder.
“Who's side are you on?” She asked, throwing her hands up dramatically.
“Yours baby” I said kissing her.
“I'm sure everyone's wondering what happened to me, we should go tell them I'm okay and that I'm extra okay” she said, rubbing her flat belly as she spoke the last words.
“And make sure you eat, you seem to have forgotten” I said as she pulled me up to follow her.
“Not anymore” she laughed, leading me to the door.
Lucien, Mason and Pearl were standing right at the door and looked to be worried.
“Are you okay Alari?” Pearl didn't even give us a chance to leave the room before she asked.
“Yes Pearl, I'm okay, just a little hungry because… you know” Alari said, making a gagging face.
“I'm glad” Pearl said, now smiling like her usual self.
We found Alari's parents in the library and I had an omega bring her food there because I had a feeling we were going to be a while.
“See the magnificent job you did?” Valerian asked as soon as he spotted us.
“The barrier! I completely forgot about that!” Alari said, shaking her head as she sat beside her mother.
“Don't tell me you got distracted” her mother said smiling warmly at Alari.
“Alari got sick and fainted” Pearl said, making Alari gasp dramatically.
“Snitch! And no I didn't faint I just fell asleep in my mate's arms!” She said, just as dramatically.
“Fainted” Pearl said in a small sing song voice.
“You fainted?!” Valerian quickly got up from where he sat and knelt beside her on the couch, using his hand to check her temperature.
“I'm fine dad, really, I'm even extra fine” she said, making me chuckle.
“Because extra fine people faint out of the blue” Pearl whispered loud enough for everyone to hear but kept her eyes on a book she'd picked up.
“What kind of god mother will you be to my child?!” Alari exclaimed.
“An amazing one!” Pearl matched her tone but didn't seem to get it.
I watched everyone to try and see if they were catching on to the word play and it seemed like Mason and Beth were the only two that were getting it.
“You know, don't you?” Beth asked with a knowing smirk and Alari gasped.
“You knew?!” She asked her mother, eyes as wide as saucers.
“You seem to forget that I'm a seer” she said with a wink, leaving Alari gaping in shock.
“I'm not a seer, which means someone needs to talk” Valerian said impatiently, looking between his daughter and wife.
“I'm pregnant” Alari smiled down at her dad, who lit up instantly.
