Damien’s pov
The room grew so silent you could hear a pin drop! And I wanted to laugh so fucking bad but I kept my cool.
“Leave it to mate to put them in their place!” Roman laughed, making my chest fill up with pride.
Now that's My Queen!
“I admit, we haven't been very… cordial when it comes to the King but we're only hard on him because we cannot suffer more mistakes, until you, he was the last Lycan Alpha worthy of holding this Kingdom together” Raven said calmly, making me want to roll my eyes.
Bullshit! They never thought me worthy!
“What are his mistakes?” She asked, staring him down. He swallowed hard, blinking a few times as if the question caught him off guard.
“He banished a Lycan Alpha!” Valder growled, making Alari snap her gaze to him.
“Xavier was not a Lycan Alpha!” I growled back, getting angrier than I already was.
They came in yelling and wouldn't let me get a word in and now they were going to bring all that crap up.
“No, he wasn't but he had potential and the heritage, whatever it was that he did surely didn't warrant banishment as a punishment” Raven said but all I was focused on was Alari's suddenly stiff form.
“He attacked me, tried to force his mark on me, after Damien had marked me. Tell me, what punishment do you find suitable for a wolf that attacked your Queen?” She asked, her voice low but the venom on her tongue left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth.
Her aura darkened and I knew they all felt it, and they feared it!
“We didn't know” Emma, the only level headed Elder, said with a gasp.
“How would you know when you didn't give me a chance to speak” I said, still angry but my voice softened, my anger wasn't directed at her, or, shockingly, at Rose.
I saw Elder Valder shrink into his chair, his eyes looking everywhere but our direction.
“We apologize My Queen, we should have known, or at least allowed the King to tell us all what happened” Emma said, her tone sincere.
“You don't get to allow him to do anything! He is King and will remain King until his dying breathe. Either get that through your head or we'll find someone suitable to replace you!” She said with finality in her voice, telling them her word was law.
“Yes my Queen” they all said, bowing their heads in respect. I'd never seen them more humble and I was glad.
A knock broke the silence, my eyes turning to the slightly open door.
“Come in!” I said and in walked Lucien, holding a folder.
“My Queen” he bowed, placing the folder on the table. “The training schedule you asked for and I've assigned our best” he said and I nodded.
“Oh, and uhm, the pack has been asking questions about the Queen and what happened last night. Literally everyone's dying to know who the Alpha that summoned everyone is. And it's still snowing” he said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
“We'll get to it, thank you Lucien” I said and he nodded, leaving us.
“The beta raised an important topic, I was hoping we could discuss that and now that the Queen is present, may I ask that we talk about it?” Emma asked, her gaze going from me to Alari.
“My training or the pack?” Alari asked, tilting her head to the side.
“Meeting the pack your highness, and the whole Kingdom” she said and I immediately felt on edge.
“The Kingdom can wait until we are sure Alari is safe” I said, my voice stiff.
“I agree with the King, the matter of her Majesty's safety is of utmost importance” Valder said, making Raven nod in agreement.
“Does that mean she won't accend the throne? The Kingdom needs it's heir on the throne” Rose said, a lot gentler than she would have if Alari hadn't put her in her place.
“We cannot risk a repeat of what happened last time and you should know how much at risk she is considering her bloodlines. She is royalty on both sides after all” Emma said, and I felt Alari shiver.
“Once we introduce her to the pack, it would be a matter of time before the entire Kingdom knows and if we don't do something about it, tell them something, it may stir doubt about her claim on the throne” Rose defended, and even though her point was valid, I didn't think I could risk putting my mate in that much danger.
The pack knowing about her presence was already risky enough!
“We will deal with that as it comes but right now, my priority, the Kingdom's priority is it's Queen's safety” I said, my hands holding her tighter to me as if she'd be taken.
“But your majesty…” Rose started saying but Alari cut her off.
“The King is right, besides, I'm not fit to take the throne yet. I still have a long way to go, and so much to learn” she said with a sigh.
“What I'm trying to say is, Damien knows best, I'm his mate, his first priority. Every decision he makes is in my best interest, and that's what the Kingdom needs” she said, making my heart flutter at how much she trusted me.
“He's been King for so long and he's doing a great job” she continued, the admiration in her voice causing my body to heat up with pride.
I was doing something right.
“I believe it is settled, should we go ahead and prepare the pack to meet the Queen?” Raven asked, looking to me instead of seeking permission from my mate.
“Looks like mate got through to them” Roman said, dropping his guard now that the tension in the room had settled.
“You may, tomorrow the pack will meet their Luna” I said.
“Then we shall take our leave” Valder said, standing and bowing before making his way to the door.
The rest did the same and I was finally alone with my mate.
“They're unpleasant” she said, turning so she was sitting on her side and brought her head to my shoulder.
“Tell me about it” I scoffed, “but you have them under control” I said, a smirk curling on my lips at the memory of Alari's dominance.
She giggled but didn't say anything, allowing the serenity of having her in my arms envelope us.

“I missed you, I was so worried when you wouldn't wake up” I said, running my hands up and down her sides.
