After graduation, he said he wanted to go make his mark in Seattle, and I stayed here to become a teacher.
I thought our future looked bleak, that we'd break up eventually.
But he said his company was opening a branch here, and if he worked hard for a few years, he'd be sent back to run it.
The branch did open. And his boss had explicitly told him that if he nailed this project, he'd be sent back as manager.
Just as I was filled with hope about ending the long-distance, this jerk pulled this stunt?
For three years, I've been the faithful girlfriend, waiting for holidays when he'd visit.
And just when he was about to come back for good, some other woman reaps the benefits?
The more I thought about it, the worse I felt.
So unfair.
I had to confront this pair face-to-face.
Just then, Harper showed up. And she brought a guy with her, carrying a bunch of equipment.
"This is my cousin, Leo. He was at my place and heard what happened. He skipped sleep to come help—he's a professional photographer!"
'Helping' was probably an excuse. He was here for the show.
"You're my cousin's best friend, so you're like a sister. Just tell me what you need!"
He pulled a drone, a gimbal, and a bunch of other gear I didn't recognize from his bag.
I'd never seen spectators go to such lengths for front-row seats!
"Hold on. We can't even get upstairs yet."
I explained the hotel's rule: Without the jerk Bennett's permission, we couldn't get up.
We'd have to tail someone going to the 5th floor.
On one hand, I'd been watching.
It was almost midnight, so foot traffic was light.
On the other, the front desk clerk was already eyeing me. She was whispering to a security guard.
I bet they were told not to let me up.
I could understand.
A woman had just went to 503.
Now another woman wanted to go up. What else could it be but a confrontation?
That jerk wasn't that good in bed.
If things got out of hand, the hotel could be liable, so better to keep me stuck in the lobby.
"Don't worry. I'll send the drone to peek in the window. We might get a shot."
High-tech stakeouts. Nice.
