After spending Valentine's Day with my long-distance boyfriend at a hotel, I got home and realized one of my Bluetooth earbuds was missing. I immediately called the hotel front desk and asked them to look for it in the room. The front desk clerk sounded a bit surprised.
"Ma'am, room 503 hasn't been checked out yet. Would you like to look for it yourself?" My mind went blank with a buzzing sound. My sixth sense screamed that this bastard had sent me away so he could cheat! I immediately dialed 911. "Officer, there's suspected solicitation of prostitution happening in room 503 at the Crystal Hotel..." Bennett and I had been in a long-distance relationship for three years. He flew in this weekend to spend the holiday with me.
Like most long-distance couples, we mostly hung out in the hotel room, ordered takeout, afraid to waste a single moment. But this time was different. He didn't seem that interested in me. After a rushed, half-hearted effort, he just played on his phone. I thought he was tired from the flight and didn't think much of it, even comforting and encouraging him.
In the afternoon, he suddenly got a call saying there was an emergency with a project at his company, and he needed to fly back immediately. He booked a flight on his phone right then, hugged me, and said with an apologetic look, "Baby, I'm so sorry. This project is tied to my year-end bonus and promotion. It's the key to me becoming the branch manager here." "I have to go back, for our future. I'll come see you for Thanksgiving." Seeing his annoyed expression, I actually felt a little bad. After all, he'd just arrived last night, hadn't gotten proper rest, and now had to turn right back around. And the branch office was here in the city. Him getting promoted to manager here meant we could finally end the long-distance nightmare. I had no idea a cheating man could act so well. I even comforted him thoughtfully. "It's okay, work comes first. Let me drive you to the airport." He stopped me with a wave of his hand. "No, no, it's fine. If you drive me, I'll just worry about you driving back alone. It'll be a whole thing. It's easier if we just go our separate ways." I wanted to spend a little more time with him, but he seemed genuinely in a hurry. I didn't overthink it, just called a ride and went home. I took a nap and woke up at 10 PM. I wanted to listen to some music and realized one earbud was gone. I checked the Find My app immediately. Thankfully, it showed the earbud was still in the hotel room. It was late, and I didn't want to go out. I figured I'd call, have the front desk get it, and send it over with a delivery service. "Ma'am, weren't you just up here? You had me make you a new key card." My brain buzzed again. My first thought: That bastard is cheating! No wonder he was so useless earlier. He was saving his energy! After calming down a bit, I wondered if maybe the front desk had made a mistake. I immediately video-called my boyfriend, but it was declined instantly. Unwilling to give up, I called—rejected again, as quickly as his performance last night. Then a text came through. [Babe, the plane's about to take off. I'll call you when I land.] Damn it. You said you were heading to the airport at noon. Now you tell me the plane's 'about to take off'? More like you were 'about to take off' with your side piece in bed, right? I was pretty much certain now that this jerk was definitely cheating. You bastard. Just you wait, I'm going to rip you and that homewrecker apart! I got dressed, called a ride, and headed straight for the Crystal Hotel.Previous Chapter
