ELLA'S POV
They love me! I mutter in my head, a soft smile playing on my lips. I have been replaying every moment and memory of the attention I had received from my powerful mates last night during the dinner. They all made me feel so... alive.
They may have cruely rejected me before, but last night, they treated me as an equal. Their kindness and warmth made me feel special...valued.
I know that what I have started to feel for them is dangerous, forbidden even. I am a mere human, a lowly servant and they are the most powerful alpha kings and this might be me planning out my next emotional trauma. But there was something about them, something primal and instinctual more than the mate bond we share that drew me to them like a moth to a flame. I really hope I don't get burned.
Those moments, when king Aleric held my hand and touched my thigh, I can't deny the spark of desire that had ignited within me.
I know I should push those memories from my mind, forget the way his touch had made me feel. But try as I might, I can't shake the memory of their intense gaze, the way they had all looked at me as if I was the only thing that mattered in that moment.
It's only past afternoon but one thing for certain I can't wait to see king Reagan tonight. He promised that he will take me for a ride. I spent my whole morning after my duties agonizing over my outfit, wanting to make a good impression when we meet today and not being able to buy anything new I ended up tearing one of my less old pink dress and resewing it to make it fit a little bit better.
"Human, are you even listening to me? You've made a mess everywhere!" princess Hellen's irritated snap jolt me back to reality.
I immediately look down to see the juice I was pouring has overflown from the goblet, spilling over the edge and onto the table and floor.
"I'm so sorry, your highness. My mind must have been elsewhere."
"Well, you better snap out of it and clean up this mess before I have you scrubbing the floors all night!" She mutters angrily.
I quickly rush to grab a rug and wipe up the spilled juice, Princess Hellen stands with her arms crossed, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Yesterday you left during the night and came in late, where did you go?" she suddenly inquires and immediately my heart rate shoot up. "I don't want you embarrassing me around the palace!" she adds and I almost sigh out loudly in relief. It doesn't sound like she knows where I was so I can lie. The last thing I want her to know is my mates want me back. She wants them and would turn my world upside down to break us up.
"I...I don't know what you mean, your highness." I defend politely. I went out when she was taking her evening nap and was back to prepare her night bath before she woke up. I assume it's either Asher or Julia who told her I wasn't in for a few hours.
"I went for a night walk for a few hours... and then came back, my lady." I shrug.
"A night walk, huh." she snorts.
I nod silently, finishing up cleaning the mess on the floor.
PRINCESS HELLEN'S POV
"And you agreed to that, your highness?" Julia questions looking at me like I am a first class fool, after I am done telling them about the plan the alpha kings came up with to get their human mate's blood. "That's a risky idea! Ella is the mate of the alpha kings. Spending time with her might..."
"No wonder she has been grinning like a love sick fool all day." Asher snorts. "They must be doing a very good job."
"I don't like this plan either, but I had no choice but to accept it." I scream at them trying to suppress my rage.
When the gorgeous kings came up with that plan it didn't sit well with me, but I agreed because I knew how much they despise their weak human mate, but now it's hurting me. I can't stop thinking of what they might be doing to entice the stupid thing to give them her blood, probably touching her! It makes me feel even feel more sick because I have to sit here pretend like I am not aware of it. They have even stopped sending me gifts and special meals.
"If I find out that she has laid a hand on any of them, I will drain every drop of that special blood of hers and feed it to the dogs!" I snarl.
Julia places a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It won't take long for them to get the blood and return to you. Ella will be out of your way for good, Princess. Try to stay calm."
I nod.
Just as I am about to relax again the door to the chamber suddenly opens and in walks the human, carrying my favorite bathing products. But it's not the items in her hands that has stolen the breath from my lungs and triggered a sensation of anger within me. It's the way she is dressed.
She is in a pink tight long dress that accentuates her curves in a way none of us have ever noticed before.
We all gape in anger and disbelief at her. Offcourse the dress is not new or expensive but it's tight and beautiful enough to reveal a curvy beautiful body we have never noticed beneath her usual shapeless garments. Not even the Alpha kings can resist such a body. And I suspect she dressed like that to go see them, why else would she be preparing my bath so early today?
My fury reaches its zenith as I watch her provocative display as she moves gracefully towards my bathroom, my hand clench in anger causing the wine glass in my grasp to crack, crimson liquid trickle down my bare arm.
Asher suddenly calls out to Ella before she disappears into the bathroom. "Wait, you never prepare our mistress's bath this early, Ella."
Ella halts and turns, her gaze meeting Asher's with confusion.
" I... thought it would be better to prepare it earlier, so her highness wouldn't have to wait after her evening nap." She answers nervously.
"Oh, I see. How thoughtful of you." Asher smirks pouring red wine into another glass as she approaches Ella.
With a sly grin, Asher pretends to trip, the stupid human immediately reach out in concern to hold her causing the wine in Asher's glass to spill out, drenching the front of her pink dress in deep red Stains.
Julia and I erupt in laughter as Asher apologizes to her, pretending to dab at the wine stains but only spreading them further.
