Princess Ana's PoV

The castle, which we called the pack house, looked like a giant tower with lots of rooms. My bedroom was way up high, in the top three rooms.

"It is just another ordinary day, Ana," Xoxo began, reminding me of what I planned to do today.

It was part of my usual routine, but it was better if no one knew what I did. Part of my routine was to look out of my window and wonder what other direction to take towards the pack's territory. I didn't want it to be another adventure that might end with me in the dungeon.

"It is not an ordinary day. I have a feeling today is going to be better than the rest. I feel like I am going to see someone or something that is going to change my life forever."

Xoxo giggled. "I will ignore the fact that we are princess wolves and we always meet someone new. Abort the mission today, princess!" She added with a stern voice that never seems to do its actual work.

Sway me.

"Do you even want this?" I asked my wolf, who seemed to turn down everything I suggested for her. Why was she ever so lackadaisical during my adventures but eager whenever I made it out alive? That was hypocrisy. I know we both want to get out of this pack and check if there are other existing packs around the world. But the truth is that it would never happen. My maid would never stop reminding me of the war outside our gates. The pack house was exactly like the towers I had seen in television shows, and guess what? I am based on the highest floor.

'For my safety' Father would say, as I was the only heir to the Moonstone throne. I could see the whole pack from my window, and sometimes I wished I could fly away like the birds. A mischievous idea popped into my head, and I couldn't resist it.

I grinned.

In total, this would be my fifth attempt at escaping the pack house to see the so-called war my father claimed was outside the walls of the pack. Even if I were the princess and the only heir, how was I supposed to rule a pack, being locked up in the pack almost every day? The last time I asked my father to let me go with the hunters on a hunt, he said no. He was consistent and adamant never to let me step foot out. I had promised him that the guards would be with me at all times, and this was the time to prove myself as one of the pack.

He still refused. All he said was for me to focus on my lessons as the future heir of the pack. I hate this. I hate it so much I can burst.

"It is not so bad, princess," Xoxo muttered under her breath. It was obvious how exhausted she was with my complaints. Well, she would have to suck it up because I have nothing else to say to her or anyone else!

"You are the princess I am just... Ana. I wouldn't last a day out there without your help." I whispered bitterly.

"With our skills, we would be good."

I scoffed. "Have you seen me with a sword? I don't even know how to fight! All they teach me is to become a queen, but I am a wolf."Xoxo wasn't getting my point. I wasn't even allowed to name my wolf by myself. My father named my wolf Xoxo because it was cute and sounded okay for a girl.

I would have preferred Zoro. She would sound better as a fearless warrior.

"You aren't even sure of yourself. And I am not sure of myself." My buttocks found the nearest couch. It was suffocating. "I have decided to go out again today."

"Your father may need you. We can't." Xoxo zeroed my idea out of her mind. It wasn't fair how easily she dismissed my ideas.

"I know today is the beginning of the weekend, but that doesn't mean I won't do stuff today."

"We have lessons today. I won't let you go out."

I paused. "You want to take over my body." It wasn't a question, but a statement. I knew what she was capable of. That was what made the both of us submissive to the point of fault. To be honest, offending anyone upsets both of us.

"If I have to."

"It is not our agreement. It is a violation of my rules. If you do this, I will never speak to you again."

"Fine. You can go, but I won't be a part of this." Xoxo warned, keeping quiet. It made her invisible. We may not have agreed today, but we would settle our score eventually. She loves me just as I love her. She would be fine. I didn't bother to take a shower because the time told me if I didn't go out, my maid would stop me from ever going out today, or rather, my duties would stop me from stepping out of the pack today. It was either now or never. I stepped closer to my door, placing my ears on it to hear the brisk footsteps of my maid up the stairs, but I didn't hear anything. She was probably receiving safety instructions from my father again.

It was too early! But it was also the best time for me to go out. I opened the door, freezing when it creaked, no matter how old it was. I nearly cursed my luck as three guards walked past my door, chatting and laughing. They were doing their routine check once again. Once they were out of view, I tiptoed through the castle's long hallways, being super sneaky.

"Xoxo, please, can you be on the lookout for me?" I asked my wolf, who was just sitting in the corner of my mind and was so quiet for obvious reasons.

I hate it whenever she does that.
